How to merge PDF files without uploading them
Select at least two PDFs. FigureNest checks each file's extension, reported content type, PDF signature, encryption state, page count, and resource limits in the browser. The list on screen is the merge order. Move a PDF up or down to change where all of its pages appear, then choose Merge PDFs. The new PDF is assembled locally and becomes available as a download from the same page.
The tool supports up to 20 files and 100 pages in one merge. The selected files together must also remain inside the normal FigureNest device input limit: 25 MB on mobile-class devices or 75 MB on desktop-class devices. These limits reduce browser memory pressure rather than forcing a large document through a server.
What happens to page order?
All pages from the first listed PDF are copied first, followed by all pages from the second listed PDF, and so on. FigureNest does not interleave pages automatically or guess a sort order from filenames. If a three-page cover document is listed before a ten-page report, the resulting PDF begins with those three cover pages and then contains the ten report pages.
What PDF features may change?
The merge creates a new PDF and copies pages into it. The visible page content is the intended result, but document-level features are not promised to survive exactly. Bookmarks/outlines, document portfolios, embedded files, JavaScript, metadata, page labels, form behavior, comments, accessibility structure, and other advanced PDF features can differ or be lost. Interactive form fields that depend on document-level form structures are not guaranteed to remain functional after pages are copied.
Existing digital signatures should be treated as invalid after merging because the resulting file is a newly created document with different bytes and structure. Keep the original signed PDFs, and use an appropriate signing or document-management workflow when signature validity or legal evidence matters.
Password-protected and encrypted PDFs
This release does not ask for PDF passwords. Encrypted or password-protected files are rejected locally rather than uploaded or merged with encryption ignored. If you are authorized to modify such a document, remove its protection in software designed for that task before using the merge tool, then retain the protected original if it is important.
Privacy and verification
Selected PDF bytes and filenames stay in the browser merge workspace. FigureNest does not need a cloud merge service for this workflow. Standard site assets, consent-controlled analytics, and advertising requests may still occur, but selected document bytes, filenames, page contents, and merged output are not included in those requests.
After downloading, open the merged PDF and check the first and last page of each source document, the total page count, orientation, forms or annotations that matter, and any document features you rely on. Keep every original PDF until the merged result has been verified.
